  • After you click "register", you will be taken back to the main website page

  • Click "login"
  • Type in your new password
  • Select which language setting you prefer: spanish, french or english
  • Choose your timezone
  • Click "OK"
  • Save your username and password somewhere safe

2) LOG IN

  • Log into the website using your username and password everytime you want to upload photos, blog, or share videos etc.
  • Login is at the right column of the webpage, near the bottom.
  • Type in your username and password to login.
  • After you login, there are some options listed on the right column under your username, such as "Content list", "kaBLOG profile", "create content" etc.

3) CREATE A PROFILE

First thing you need to do is to create a profile. There are 2 types of profiles you can create, depending on what you are doing as part of the campaign. They are:

1. KA-BLOG PROFILE

  • You need to create a ka-BLOG profile to write and publish blog posts in the website.
  • You can use blog posts to talk about your campaign. Announce your activities. Share thoughts. Or take part in an action.
  • All blog posts will be published under "Write" > "Recent Posts"
  • If you have a "local campaign profile", they will also be listed under your campaign page
  • i) If you are using the TakeBackTheTech website to write and publish your blog posts:
    • You just need to fill in your "ka-BLOGGER name". This is the name you want to call yourself and will be published as the author of the blog posts. You can use your username, real name or name of the local campaign that you are organising.
    • You can ignore all the other options in the form.
    • Under "Participation", select "I will be using this campaign site to publish my kaBLOG posts"
    • Click "Save" and you're done.
  • ii) If you have your own blogsite (for example, a blogspot account), but want your blog posts to appear on the campaign website, fill in all the details:
    • "ka-BLOGGER" name is the name you want to call yourself as author of the posts
    • "Blog site title" is the title of your blog
    • "Blog site URL" is the webaddress of your blog (e.g. http://myblog.blogspot.com)
    • "Feed title" is the title of the RSS feed of your blogsite. RSS stands for really simple syndication. It allows webcontent to be pulled from one place to another automatically with a RSS reader. This is how we can pull content from your blogsite to the takebackthetech campaign website.
    • "Feed URL" is the web address of blogsite's RSS feed
    • Depending on how often you update your blog, select the "Update Interval"
    • Under "Aggregator category", click "takebackthetech" and "violence against women"
    • Under "Participation", select "I will be using my own blog to kaBLOG"
    • Click "Save" and you're done.
  • You can now use the takebackthetech website to write and/or publish posts about your campaign and activity.
  • If you want to make changes to your profile, just click on "edit" and it'll take you back to the form

2. LOCAL ACTION PROFILE

  • If you are organising a TakeBackTheTech campaign, please create a "Local action profile"
  • This is where visitors and other campaigners will go to find out more about your organisation or network, your plans for Take Back The Tech!, and the activities that you have done.
  • After you create a local action profile, your campaign will be listed as one of the TBTT campaigns under "Connect" > "Take Back The Tech Campaigns".
  • Other users can also search for your campaign according to the country you listed under "Connect" > "Meet Other Campaigners"
  • The page of your local campaign profile page will be named as: http://www.takebackthetech.net/local_actions/[name_of_your_campaign].
  • When you communicate with your campaigners and networks, you can refer them to this URL for them to find out more about your plans and activities. When you publish campaign photographs, videos, blog posts etc, they will be listed in this page too.
  • To create a "Local Action Profile":
    • Login, and go to "Local action profile"
    • "Local group name": The name of your organisation or campaign
    • "Image": This is the image that represents your campaign. You upload your organisation's logo, or the Take Back The Tech campaign logo that you have adapted or created
    • "Language": Select which language you work in, French, Spanish or English
    • "About the local group": Write a brief description about your organisation or network. Who you are, the kind of advocacy work that you do etc. You can also use <html> tags to format the description here if you like.
    • "Local campaign website title": You can include the name of your organisations' website, or the name of your local TBTT campaign website if you have set it up.
    • "Local campaign website URL": This is the external web address of your organisation's website, or your local TBTT campaign website, that people who want to find out more about your organisation and campaign can go.
    • "What are you doing for TBTT 2010?": Here, write down a brief description of what your plans for the TBTT campaign this year
    • Click on "Location", and you can input and select the place where your campaign is taking place. This will appear on the map at the top of the page under "Organise" and "Connect"
    • Click "Save" and your're done :)

Now you are ready to start writing blog posts and uploading content like images, video and audio clips.  See how to create and upload content.
